Joan Bubnick

Obituary of Joan Lee Bubnick

Joan, 70, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on November 22, 2007. Joan was born on February 25, 1937, in Seattle, to William and Mary Jane Nicholson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955, and soon after, married Kenneth Bubnick. After Ken graduated from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry, they made their home in Tenino, Washington. Most recently, Joan lived with her daughter and son-in-law (Stefanie and Barrett) in Olympia, where they graciously shared their home with her these past two years. Joan was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Widowed in 1984, she was an anchor and guiding light to her family. She always stood steadfast in difficult times and displayed unconditional love. She never hesitated to give motherly advice or lend a helping hand in anyway she could, while constantly expressing her desire to do more. Joan was retired from the Washington State Department of Corrections in Olympia. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, tole painting, ceramics and stained glass. She was a talented lady who accomplished anything she set her mind to. Her greatest joy, however, was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan is survived by her three children, Stacy Hoffman (Jim), Stefanie Fuller (Barrett), and Brent Bubnick; twin sister, Joyce Kohler; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. We all love her and will miss her very much.
