Obituary of Pauline Mildred Slepicka Brown

Pauline Mildred Slepicka Brown Pauline Mildred Slepicka Brown passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006. Family and friends celebrated her 93rd birthday this year and will miss her deeply, always remembering her graciousness, her gentle wit, her radiant smile, and the sparkle in her eyes. Born in Oak Park, Illinois on January 14, 1913, Pauline came from a family of gifted professional artists. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago and her Master of Arts from the University of Illinois, where she met her husband, Walter Nelson Brown. Settling in Ohio, they raised a family of four girls, Marilyn, Janet, Kathy, and Margery. After Walter's untimely death in 1969, Pauline relocated to Colorado, where she lived for many years before moving to Olympia in 2003. As an illustrator for the A-MERI-CARD greeting card company, the gentleness and sincerity of Pauline's spirit was manifest in her work. Later, she co-owned Windtimber Studio with her daughter, Kathy, designing contemporary stained glass art pieces with a characteristic appreciation for nature's graceful simplicity. Pauline always looked for the positive and found beauty in life. She is survived by three of her daughters, Marilyn, Janet, and Margery; one daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Although her family already spanned four generations, Pauline opened her heart to create an extended group of new friends. A private graveside ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at the Delphi Pioneer Cemetery.
