BROWN May 1924 - June 2004 God saw Helen was getting tired And a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around her And whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched her suffer And saw her fade away, Although we loved her dearly We could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating Hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Loved and respected by many, Helen, a wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with the Lord June 19, 2004. She was born in Spokane to Horace and Esther Writer. At the age of two they moved to Olympia and joined the First Christian Church. Helen was baptized when she was eight and has been an active member since, serving as a teacher, camp counselor and Deacon. In later years she was a member of Christian Women’s Fellowship. After completing school she worked for Puget Power. She was later employed as a secretary to the Director of Washington State Utilities and Transportation . She completed her working years as executive secretary for the Director of Personnel for 20 years. Left with wonderful memories of her life and faith is her husband Jim; daughters, Anne-Marie, Cindy Beauchene (Ray), Bonnie Workland (Paul); sons, Jim (Cindy), Jeff (Lorri), John (Marcy); sisters, Evelyn Thornbrue and Mabel Strange; fourteen grandchildren and many friends including all the ladies of her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi.
