Obituary of Betty Braack

Betty Braack, a resident of Olympia since 1938 died at Providence St. Peter Hospital on Wednesday, December 21, 2005. She was born June 14, 1922 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Hans and Agatha (Kurtenbach) Jacobsen. Betty attended Olympia High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Fred Braack. Fred and Betty married on November 8, 1943 at Fort Lewis and enjoyed 62 years together. Betty had worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses with Saint Martins College being her last place of employment. Her passion in life was family, raising three daughters and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing and traveling when her health permitted. She loved her small dogs that were with her through the years. Mrs. Braack was a member of St. Michael Parish in Olympia and a former member of the Olympia Outboard Club. In addition to her husband Fred she is lovingly remembered by her daughters; Karen Ames (Ray) of Wenatchee, Kathy Chamberlain (Jim) of Lacey and Kristie Logsdon (John) of Olympia; grandchildren; Dan Penn of Woodinville, Kevin Penn of Everett, Stacie Bowman of Olympia, Heather Pidduck of Lacey, Emily Logsdon and Jacob Logsdon both of Olympia; great- grandchildren; Aaron, Zachary, Lucas, Stevie, Raven and Hayden. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2005 at St. Michael Parish. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
