Obituary of Louise “Stevie” Blocher

Viewing 10:00 a.m. prior to Funeral Service Louise “Stevie” (Stephens) Blocher Louise, age 78, passed away on January 11, 2012, in her home in Olympia, surrounded by family. She was born on November 23, 1933, in Denver, Colorado to Mira Belle and Jack Bishop Stephens. In 1942, after her parents divorced, Louise moved with her mother and little brother, Jack, to Boise, Idaho, where they lived for five years. It was during this time that her mother met Rulon Nielson and Louise’s future step brother and sisters. In 1947, their new family moved to Olympia, Washington. Soon after, at her 14th birthday party, Louise met her soul mate, Donald Ellis Blocher. Three years later, on Louise’s 17th birthday, Don proposed, and on June 19, 1951, they were married. Don left July 20, 1951 for Japan and the Philippines and was off serving his country for 18 months. Louise went to school and worked as a keypunch operator at Western Metalcraft in Olympia until Don came home in December of 1952. Louise and Don raised three children, Mike, LeAnn and Bob. They owned and operated Custom Septic Service for 35 years. Don and Louise enjoyed going on RV trips together, often taking some of the grandkids with them. They also enjoyed going on cruises, especially to Alaska and the Caribbean. Louise was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had many great friends. Louise generously shared her time and talents in serving her family, friends, and community throughout her life. She enjoyed researching genealogy for the church, sewing, wall-papering, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Don, Louise is survived by her three children, her brother Jack, her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Service will be held Monday, January 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 600 Overhulse Rd. NW Olympia, WA. Viewing at 10:00 a.m. Procession will then travel to Mills and Mills Memorial park in Tumwater for graveside services, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. Louise will be greatly missed and forever loved.
