Dear Bentley Family,
I am glad I got to know Jim while he worked at the Thurston County Food Bank.
Jim was an asset to the food bank, a pleasure to work with and to have in our midst. He worked so diligently and never took a break; just went about his tasks, and doing more than his share. He always cleaned up his work place before leaving.
I loved his smile; he was a humble individual and I tuck him in my heart.
Sincerely,
Betty Rose

Jim was one of the best and most loyal friends I have ever had. I always enjoyed and appreciated the time I spent with him, and I cherish my memories of our adventures. I was very sad to learn today that he passed away.
I will never forget Jim's kindness and generosity, and his unwavering diligence and work ethic. As I recall, he received the "Most Inspirational" award on the Olympia High swim team when we were seniors. Jim was always at swim practice, always worked hard, and never complained or criticized. He lived the rest of his life the same way. That award was a tribute to Jim's unique collection of admirable qualities. I think it's remarkable that the quietest guy on the team was the most inspriational.
All of us who knew Jim will remember his gentle spirit. He will be missed.

As a fellow student of OHS class of 72, I did not get to know Jim well, but had classes with him occasionally. My recollections of him, however, are the same as Kim (Wells) Andresen; I, too, perceived him as one of the "good guys". He was polite, considerate and had a decent lifestyle. That was somewhat of a rarity during those years. His family and loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers during this time.

Few of us ever realize how many other lives our lives touch, and I'm sure that Jim would have been surprised to know that his life and death touched me. Even more than 35 years since we went to high school together, I remember Jim with fondness and a smile. My sympathy and prayers go out to all his family and friends.

My cousin Jim was a tender-hearted and gentle man. He was always concerned about doing the right thing and he had the gift of simple expression. He has always had a special place in my heart and I have always been proud to have him in my family. His kind handwritten notes to me are cherished possessions. I will miss him.

Jim was a remarkably giving and compassionate person. In every way, Jim would take the self- less path. We will honor his memory and miss him forever.
