Obituary of Dorothy Jean Belcher

Dorothy Coleman Belcher, 93, passed away at Providence St. Peter Hospital from a stroke on Monday, December 14, 2009, with her family by her side. Dorothy was born April 15, 1916 in Meskill, Lewis County, Washington to Peter and Nellie Coleman. She graduated from Mossyrock High School in 1934 and married her high school sweetheart, Ernie Belcher on December 19, 1934 in Chehalis, Washington.Dorothy worked several years for JC Penney Downtown Olympia Store and was also a Sunday School Teacher at the Assembly of God Church before it became Evergreen Christian Center. She was a member of the Littlerock Community Fellowship Church. Dorothy was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed all of God’s nature. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, and rafting on the Rogue River with her family. She also spent many years working at the Olympia Farmers Market with her family where beautiful bonds were created between 3 generations of daughters. Dorothy will be best remembered for her kind, generous and loving ways to all. She seemed to touch people’s hearts in a very special way that they never forgot. Dorothy’s unconditional love for all of her family is what made her so special. Her friendship and fellowship to all that knew her will be truly missed. Surviving Dorothy are her son David Belcher; daughter Linda Rutledge; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie; parents Peter and Nellie Coleman; three sisters; and one brother. Our family wishes to thank her wonderful friend and neighbor, Nancy Partlow, for always being there for her and her family. Also, the loving nursing staff at Providence St. Peter Hospital. Dorothy’s wishes were for Memorial Donations to be made to Littlerock Community Fellowship Building Fund at P.O. Box 221, Littlerock, WA 98556.
