Obituary of LaVina Ann Beck

No visitation LaVina Ann Beck LaVina Ann Beck, 79, of Olympia, died Thursday, May 24, 2007. LaVina was born August 2, 1927 to George and Frances (Vadnais) Paulson in Grove City, Minnesota. After graduating from high school in 1945, she accompanied her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Helen Paulson to Washington for a visit – and stayed! She was employed by the Washington Department of Social and Health Services and later by the Thurston County Medical Bureau until her retirement in 1975. She married Eugene Beck on July 29, 1949. LaVina loved music. She played the French horn in the first Olympia Symphony Orchestra and sang with the Lyric Singers, a women’s choral group. She also was a member of the choir and later served as the organist at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. LaVina is survived by her husband, Gene and three brothers, Donald, Harold and Gerald Paulson of Oregon, Montana and Alabama respectively, also several nieces. One brother, Boyd Paulson preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007 at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on the corner of North and Henderson Streets.
