I will forever miss your cilantro garlic sauce. I used it on everything. Your bright personality was like sunshine on a cloudy Olympia day. I live in LA and was just talking to a friend about your sauces and how much I miss them after moving away - I googled and was sad to hear of your passing. Dearest Amando,
You touched my life and that of my family in many big and small ways.Your wonderful sense of humor brought much joy and laughter in my life. I will always remember the stories you used to tell about your mother, grandfather and sisters and your delicious dinners with Quinoa, arugula, and the ever famous garlic sauces. My family and I loved Amando dearly. He was a sparkle in our lives. We will always remember his wit and energy. He loved everything and everyone. While he was in Alaska Amando was always making something: music, shoes, carvings, stories. And making us Laugh. Amando was and always will be a special man. More like "a female in a man's body" as he would put it. His passion touched me and inspired me. His knowledge was so great and the generosity to share it with people was astounding. I am lucky to have worked next to him for 3 years. I loved this man dearly. He was one of the first people I met in downtown Olympia and I cherished our chats even more than his garlic sauce. He claimed his garlic sauce was responsible for my twin girls coming into this world, and eerily seemed to know of their existence before we did! I am deeply saddened by his passing. He was an amazing man.

I was a patron of Amando's booth at the Farmer's Market. I am so saddened by this loss. I did not know he was sick. He was so alive and vivacious. What a spirit! His presence and joy were infectious. Even though we were mere acquaintances I was touched by him. I am reminded of the quote, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."--Maya Angelou
