I knew Ed through my parents Marsha and Bruce Hopkins. Ed was very dear to me. I am in the Air Force and Ed has kept in touch with me through the years. He was my e-mail buddy. His letters and stories about his time in the service gave me a nice break from the office and always put a smile on my face. Unfortunately I haven't been home in four years. I have a son (Alex) who turned two on the 24th. Ed never had the chance to meet him but I did send him pictures. I will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to Ed's family and friends.

Please accept my condolences on the death of your father. I had the privilege of working with Ed for a short time at the Corrections office in Yakima. He was very generous and compassionate and I enjoyed working with him. My prayers are with you and your families.

I am so sorry to hear about Ed. I lost a loved one years ago and he helped me through it. He talked me into going with him on one of the yacht club cruises on his sail boat. I had a wonderful time. I met my husband there. Ed would always brag that he is the one to introduce us. He did! I introduced him to Charlie. Those guys had a wonderful time fishing just about everyday . The stories they would tell.... Ed said that it was one of the best times in his life. Charlie passed away and Ed took it really hard. I know the two of them are fishing and telling stories now! Thank you Ed for being part of my life and crossing my path.

This message is for Elizabeth. I was one of your teachers in Selah. ( I'm not sure if you knew me as Mrs. Miles or Furstenau ) I think it was fourth grade. You were the pretty, smart blonde in my class that year. You lived on 3rd street with your Dad when you were in my class. I can see you in my mind's eye. A teacher never forgets a special child and you were special. I know you were special to your father too and I was sorry to read of his passing in the Yakima Herald.
I see by the obituary that you have a family and are living in Montana.
I am retired after 30 years but still substituting. I hope you will still consider Selah your hometown. My condolances to you and your family.
God bless you and your family.

Ed Bartlett was an extraordinary man in many ways. His intelligence, wit, charm and experience were immediately apparent to any who were lucky enough to meet him. His devotion to his children and his friends was know well to all and ran very deep.
I had the privilege of knowing him for 28 years. As I grew up he was know to me as “Uncle Ed”, which was fitting because he always honored me by treating me as part of his family. He was like a second father to me and had a tremendous impact on my life and the person that I have become. Although his loss has hit me very hard I can’t forget how truly blessed that I was to have known him and how lucky I was to have had him as one of the guiding lights in my life.
We have all been privileged to have had Ed play a role in our lives and in knowing him we can honestly say that at least once in our journey we had the opportunity to witness in person a shining example of what it truly means to be a Noble Gentleman. Godspeed Uncle Ed. You will not be forgotten.

So sorry to hear about Ed's passing. I know he will be remembered fondly, and how we are remembered says a lot about how we lived our lives here on earth. I pray that God will comfort those he left behind, and ease the pain of his passing. Love to you all, Larry & Virginia Young

Anyone who finds a friend is blessed. But, if one is truly lucky, perhaps once in a lifetime you may find a friend like Ed. For the past thirty years his intelligence, compassion, humanity, and humor have been intertwined into our lives bringing happiness and peace. There are no words to express how much Ed will be missed nor to thank him for his constant love, guidance and support. Fair winds and full sails, Ed.

I know you feel very sad during this time. Ed was a very caring father and Grandfather. Your Dad and I always enjoyed his company when he came to visit. He always had a good story or two. We will miss him too!
