I was given a copy of Ms. Balter's book (Gardening With Soul) this year and just loved it. When I saw that she lived in Fayetteville when the book was published I wanted so much to meet the beautiful person who wrote such a beautiful book. Sadly I found her here -- a loss to the earth and her family and friends. What a gift she gave to the world with her written words! From reading the words here in this guestbook from those who knew her it sounds like she was a gift all around. My thoughts and sympathies go out to her friends and particularly her daughters. Blessed Be.

I returned from a trip to hear of Gaylah's death. For her, I'm glad that the pain has ended. For the rest of us, the world is less hospitable. I met Gaylah in the swimming pool at Briggs YMCA. After talking with her one time, I knew I had to have her books (which I do.) Talking with her always made my day brighter. I miss her.

I had the pleasure of knowing Gaylah for the past two years. She was a participant in the W.I.S.E. Program at the Monroe County YMCA, which is a program for cancer survivors. She brought much joy to all in the program. Always a smile and a kind word. I sought her out on many occasions to walk with enjoyed our wide ranging conversations. She was a kind person and touched many lives with her thoughtfullness and sense of what was right.

This morning I heard of Gaylah's passing, and felt immediate sadness. What a powerful spirit, and a gift for us all who were touched by her! I was office manager at her Physical Therapy office a couple years ago, and we had a delightful connection. I feel blessed to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with her children and sister.

Ari and Karen,
I'm so glad I had the honor and pleasure of knowing your Mom and Mother in Law. She was one of a kind and even tho I only knew her for a short time, she definitely made an impression on me. She had an incredible spirit and was a joy to be around and an inspiration to many. I know you'll miss her very much but how lucky to have had someone like her in your life for so long. For the times I was with her, she always made me laugh and smile, and that's what I'll remember
Love
Sita
