Obituary of Margaret Jean Baker

Margaret Jolley Baker, 92, passed away on January 21, 2010. She was born July 11, 1917 in Seattle, Washington, to Eugene L. and Mary (Bannister) Denton. She grew up in Kingston, Washington. Margaret graduated from North Kitsap High School. She married Robert Jolley on September 10, 1937 and they lived in Port Gamble where he worked for Pope & Talbot Lumber. In 1942, they moved to Yelm where they owned and operated “My Corner” gas and grocery (at the existing AM/PM next to Del’s Farm Supply). Bob passed in 1952. Margaret later married Ken Baker. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad until he passed in 1987.She is survived by her son Richard (Beverly) Jolley of Rainier; her daughter Joanne Jolley Korn George of Grass Valley, California; and son Ken Baker, Jr. She is also survived by Grandsons Robert Jolley (Mandy) of Rainier, David Korn (Nicole), Scott Valley, California, and Brian Korn (Autumn) and Jaxon Berry, Grass Valley, California. Great Grandchildren Witney Estus (Derek), Olympia; Michaela Korn and Harrison Korn, Scott Valley, California. She was predeceased in death by her sister Eleanor Elkins of Kingston, Washington. Margaret was a homemaker and was active with Joanne and Richard’s activities. She was a den mother for the cub scouts. She loved her flowers, and animals, loved to build puzzles, played scrabble, cross word puzzles and her National Geographics. She was very artistic and won prizes at the county fair when she was growing up for her art work. She was a great seamstress and made several wedding and bridesmaid dresses for people in town.
