Obituary of Jimmy Bailey

James (Jimmy) Woodson Bailey Jimmy W. Bailey, age 77 of Olympia, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2009 with family by his side. Born on December 5, 1931 in Binger, Oklahoma, he was the only child of Paul Hampton Bailey and Thelma Beal Bailey. Jimmy graduated in 1949 from Anadarko High School in Oklahoma. At age 21, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in music from Oklahoma City University and later received his Master’s in Education from Southwestern State College. He worked as a music instructor in Oklahoma for 3 years and continued his teaching career in California for 35 more years, until 1991. Following Jimmy’s retirement in Hermosa Beach, California, he and his family moved to Olympia, Washington. Jimmy is survived by Loreta Bailey, his wife of 30 years; his two daughters, Annamarie and Angelina Bailey; as well as numerous cousins living in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and California. His love of music and travel is only surpassed by the love of his wife and two daughters. Jimmy was one of a kind and loved much by his family and those who knew him well. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to give thanks to their friends and members of the Hospice team for the care and support they provided during the last few months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Polio Outreach of WA, 4704 235th St. East, Spanaway, WA 98387 in memory of Jimmy W. Bailey. A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey on July 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. At his request, there will be no public viewing.
