Obituary of Lois Mary Ayres

Lois Mary Ayres – Born February 8, 1923 in Madison, Wisconsin to Edward and Adeline King, passed away March 26, 2010 in Lacey, WA. Lois grew up in Watertown, Wisconsin and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where she met John Ayres – they were married in 1947 and moved to Washington State.John and Lois had 2 children, Jak Ayres and Lauren Ayres. She worked in the medical field for many years then in 1963 went to work for the Thurston County office of DSHS. She later returned to school at the University of Washington where she received her Masters Degree in Social Work. Lois worked for DSHS until her retirement, where she was the Head of the Office of Information and Adjustment. Lois loved to travel and was able to travel the world with friends and family as part of Friendship Force. She was also an accomplished seamstress and knitter, and a member of the Madigan Nannies. Lois spent many days at her beloved Surfcrest, walking the beach. She was an avid beachcomber and beach crafter. Surviving Lois are her children and 2 grandchildren, Ross Dye and Shawn Ayres and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John – the love of her life.
