Obituary of Floyd James Argersinger

Floyd James Argersinger Was born in Gloversville NY on July 19, 1926 to a Mohawk Valley pioneer family and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1944 and then joined the Army. He received a BS in Business Administration from Utica College in 1950. Floyd worked in aerospace with Curtiss-Wright on the J-65 and J-67 jet engines, then with Reaction Motors Company on the XLR-99 Rocket Engine R&D project. He then joined Boeing in 1956 where he worked on the Minuteman, the X-20 and BoMarc programs. In 1972 he joined the staff of governor Dan Evans as a Policy Analyst and was the primary architect and program director of the Alternatives for Washington Program, a statewide long range growth management plan which won national honors as a citizen participation program model. He continued to serve as Senior Policy Analyst for the administrations of governor’s Dixie Lee Ray, John Spellman and Booth Gardner until his retirement in 1991. Floyd lived a comfortable life in West Olympia enjoying his ponds and gardens with his wife of 37 years until he passed away on Monday May 5th after a long battle with renal failure while refusing dialysis. Floyd is survived by his beloved wife Dolores, three children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
