Obituary of JoAnn Apperson

JoAnn (Michael) Apperson 11/29/33-9/18/06 JoAnn was born to Roy and Clara Peterson on November 29, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa. She moved to Tacoma as a young woman and taught dancing at Fred Murray Dance Studio. There she met Jim Michael, and they were married September 1, 1956. Together they raised four daughters. Jim passed away after 28 years of marriage. JoAnn spent many years working for the Tacoma School District food services. Later she became a realtor, spending over 20 years enjoying a successful career. In 2001 JoAnn met Jim Apperson. Their years of marriage were some of her happiest times. They enjoyed traveling, participating in Rosarian and Masonic activities, and making improvements on their home. Jim never failed to make her smile. She is survived by husband Jim Apperson; daughters Rebecca (Willard) Lathrop, Cindy (Daniel) Kennedy, Kim (Steve) Olsen, and Cheryl (Phillip) Smith; brother Darwin (Linda); and and Jim’s family, Tom (Amber) Apperson and Craig (Leslie) Apperson and their daughter Erin. Her grandchildren brought her many years of joy. Josh, Brie, Will, Kjirsten, Ben, Scott, Nate, and James will miss their Grandma. Services will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1515 Harrison Ave. NW in Olympia on Friday, September 22 at 3:00 pm.
