Obituary of Bertha Anderson

BERTHA LEE ANDERSON Bertha Lee Anderson peacefully passed away on the morning of December 16, 2011 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Known to her friends and family as “B. Lee”; she was born January 18, 1924 to Lillian E. and John D. Fallaw in Columbia, S.C. B. Lee married Dale Edward Cox in Biloxi, MS on July 3, 1943 and this union gave them one daughter, Dale Ann. After 24 years in the Air Force, Dale E. Cox retired and the family moved to Quilcene, WA in 1963. B. Lee renewed her early training as a bookkeeper and began working to help with the expenses of restoring their house, which was seven miles off the electric grid. Years later, B. Lee and Dale parted to pursue separate dreams. She began keeping books for Anderson Tree Farm, where she met Maurice (Maury) Anderson. B. Lee and Maury were married January 19, 1980 in Brinnon, WA. The two were active members of the local community and enjoyed living in the beautiful natural area. She worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Anderson Tree Farm, until they both retired. B. Lee loved spending time with family, friends at their beach cabin and cooking for all that visited. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, quilting and playing cards. She will be missed greatly. B. Lee is survived by her husband Maury; daughter, Dale Ann Rayburn (Rochester WA); granddaughter, Shannon Lukins (Pasco); grandson, Ryan Rayburn (Centralia); and two great-granddaughters. B. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, John D. and Lillian, and her brother J.D. Fallaw.
