Obituary of John Allen

John Howard Allen John passed away December 22, 2011, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 25, 1932, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Howard and Ethel Buckland Allen. John graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg, ID in 1950, and then attended the University of Idaho in Moscow. In 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and service in the Korean War until the war ended in 1953. Following the war, John worked as a Mechanical Draftsman with Boeing and WA Iron Works, and as a Mechanical Engineer with PECO, Star Iron and Steel, and Rigging International, all of Western WA. John resided in Kennewick WA for 35 years while he was employed with Neil Lampson, Inc. in Kennewick WA. As a Mechanical Engineer, John supervised multiple in and out of country projects for Container Craines and Transilifts. These projects sent him to Alaska, California, the East Coast, Louisiana, Cleveland OH, Austrailia, Brazil, Korea, and Taiwan. At the time of his passing, John had been a resident of Rainier WA since 2005. He had become a member of the Senior Center in Rainier, and was their treasurer for 4 years. John was organized, well-read, loved to tell stories and jokes, and most of all loved his ever-growing family. John loved Bluegrass music and played the mandolin very well. He was a member of the Western Gun Club and Single Action Shooting Club, and a proud member of the National Rifle Association. An avid mountaineer, prior to leaving Western WA, he climbed multiple mountains including his most proud accomplishment climb of Mt Rainier. He enjoyed 4-wheeeling with friends and family, and learning American History. John is survived by his sons, James H. Allen (Cody WY) and Jeffrey V. Allen (Marysville); and daughters Patricia J. Carter (Rochester) and Kim M. Deitch (Rainier). He is also survived by his sister Sharon Jouflas (Phoenix, AZ), 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
