Obituary of David Lewis Akehurst

David Lewis Akehurst David Akehurst, 69, passed away January 9, 2012 in Olympia, Washington. He was born August 9, 1942 in Olympia to Lawrence Lewis and Edith Nellie Black Akehurst. He attended Olympia and North Thurston schools, and served in the U.S. Navy in San Diego, California from 1961 to 1965. David married Janette Ann Renshaw on June 24, 1968 in Lakeside, California. David served on the Jeep Patrol’s Search and Rescue Team for 27 years, and also was a Thurston County Reserve Deputy Sheriff for a few years. He was a mountain man at heart. He loved hunting with hound dogs, fishing, camping, cooking with a Dutch oven, and attending rendezvous gatherings. He also was a trapper and member of WWC. His favorite foods were potato salad and “good ole’” steak. He is survived by his wife, Janette Akehurst of Olympia; son, Andrew Akehurst of Bonita Springs, Florida; brothers, Dennis Akehurst and Steve Akehurst; and three grandchildren.
