Dear Loved Ones of Jeffrey,
I happened across the announcement of his passing in the Evergreen Alumni Magazine on Evergreen’s website this evening. I did not meet or know Jeffrey, but have been to Old School Pizza a number of times here in Olympia, am an Evergreen Alum (2012) & recently returned to enroll in Evergreen’s Master of Public Administration program. I just wanted to send my prayers to you all and recognize his passing. May the Lord bless you with the happy memories you have of him and the hope of seeing him again. Take comfort in knowing people care, especially when it’s most painful. Live as best and as happily as you can, knowing it is precious, as I’m sure he would have wanted that for his family members. Take good care of yourselves, each other and stop to breathe the fresh air & other sights of nature, like the morning’s birds and sunsets. Immerse yourselves in the beauty God provides us and find a genuine smile to offer others who also must process kinds of pain in life. Gratefulness helps esp. with grief. It will lessen.
God Bless,
Sally T. of Tumwater, WA (& grew up (since 70s in Issaquah, WA)

Jeff was, for a period of time in my life, my best friend, and I was his.
We bonded on our young broken hearts, video games, music, and the cathartic, ephemerality of boyhood. Though we had a bad split, I always cherished the time I had spent with him. I have many memories, and I intended on making more. Recently we had been mildly in touch, and I was happy to know that I may see him sometime in the next 5 years. But, now that isn’t possible, and I am very, very sad to accept that.
His parents loved him dearly, and though he was naively unaccepting of their love in many cases (during our time together, 2003-2005), he still white-knuckled to a deep, fundamental of genuine love that his friends could see clearly as daylight in him, even through his abrasively cynical humor. If ever there were a person who truly embodied Duende, it was Jeff Womeldorff. A part of him will always be a part of me. Jeff, I thank you for that, and I wish you a peaceful “existence,” wherever you are.
To Gary & Jani I send my deepest condolences. I distinctly remember one day when I came over to your house with concern about Jeff. Jani, you met me at the door and we shared a moment of very similar emotional unsettling. May there be peace in your castle.
