Obituary of Ruth Wick

Ruth Wick, 96, died February 25, 2016 at Garden Courte Memory Care Community in Olympia, WA, where she had lived for almost five years. Ruth was born in Olympia, graduated from Olympia High School in 1937, and married Robert H. Wick in 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay D. and Laura E. (Sutton) Brady; sister, Joyce Coplin; brothers, Victor K. Pegram Brady, Ardona E. Hartford Brady, Byron Coplin Brady, James D. Brady; and husband, Robert “Bob” Wick (1992). Surviving siblings are brother, Hart W. Brady of Bandera, TX; and sisters, Fannie (Pashkowski) O’Leary of Eastsound, WA, Helen Mattox of Mt. Vernon, WA, Elizabeth Pessemier of San Diego, CA and Port Townsend, WA. Ruth is survived by two sons, James Sr. (wife Elaine) of Olympia; Richard (wife Ellen) of Seeley Lake, MT; grandchildren, James Wick Jr. (Pamela) of San Diego, CA, Ingrid (Billy Yunck) of Whitefish, MT, and Arne (Amanda) of Helena, MT; and great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Carson, Sylvi, Avery, and Anna Ruth. Ruth’s life journey was influenced by losing a mother at age 14, during the Great Depression. She was a devoted homemaker in raising two sons. Most of her learning beyond high school was self-taught. Ruth was a master at sewing, weaving, and gardening.
