Obituary of Joe Auburn Wells

Joe Auburn Wells was born June 23, 1942 in Tumwater, Washington, and passed away August 19, 2013 in Olympia, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Wells; their daughter, Tammra Wells-Hurley, and son, Jay (Lori) Wells; brother, Jesse (Bobbi) Wells; grandchildren, Chaise Truini, Josh and Jeremy Hurley, and Jamie Lynn Garay-Wells; and four great grandchildren, Natalie, Emmanuel, Mateo and Caydan. Other close family members include: John and Sally Richards, James and Barbara Murphy, Jerry and Donna Aasen, Don and Beth Strange, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe graduated from Olympia High School in 1961. He served in the United States Navy. Joe worked for the Olympia Brewery for 30 years before retiring as a foreman in the brew house. Joe made many lifetime friends while working at the brewery. Joe loved to golf. He and Margaret were on the golf course every chance they could, enjoying time with their friends and family. Joe loved working in his yard and working on anything mechanical. While they were raising their children, the family all loved vacationing in Seaside, Oregon. They spent many summers camping, hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding– making memories that they will cherish forever. Joe will be remembered by his family most for his fun and kind personality, his loving nature, his smile and everything that he taught us all about how to live life well. In celebration of Joe’s life, friends and family are invited to a gathering at Calvary Chapel of Olympia, 919 Division Street NW at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013. We are honored that Joe’s ashes will be interned in the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Joe Wells may be made to the Providence of Mother Joseph Center, 3333 Ensign Road NE, Olympia, WA 98506.
