It’s hard to know what to write. My heart is so full of love and memories with Vickie that it is hard to put it all into words. I truly loved Vickie, loved her. She was my very dear friend. I loved her honesty, calm dimeanor, and inner strength. In small group I loved when she gave her insight when we were all discussing a topic of scripture. I learned so much from her. She had such wisdom and you knew she loved her God. I also loved her stories, sometimes serious and sometimes we’d all laugh and get so far off track from our small group lesson. It was so fun. She also made the best banana and zucchini bread, always making sure she wrapped some up for Josh because she knew he loved it. I could talk to Vickie about anything and knew I could be honest with her. Her friendship was something I treasured and she was a GIFT to all of us and will never ever be forgotten. After my Dad went to be with Jesus I said that God must have loved us an awful lot to give him to US. How did we get so lucky? I feel the same way about Vickie’s family: God gave you a beautiful gift and you were so lucky to have her as a mom, wife, grandma, sister, daughter, and friend. She really loved her family. It is hard to let go and move forward, but I pray for you all every day that God will give you strength and heal your hearts. He loves you more than you could ever know.
(p.s. She is so happy right now! It will be such a good day when we’re all together again!)

I will always remember a special basket Vicki made for Martin and I to take on a weekend get away. It was priceless to me. As well as Holiday dinners, gift exchange, and special visits all together. Know that your wife, mom, sister, daughter, Grandmother and Great Grandmother would want your broken hearts to mend and to live life. A special hug to Harry and Marshelle. Our Love and Prayers are with you all, Martin and Corrine

Vickie, I cried and laughed today at the wonderful Celebration of Life your family put together. You have touched so many lives and made so many of us laugh. It is clear you have left behind a wonderful legacy in your family. Your grace-filled wisdom and witty stories will be missed greatly in the Small Group Circle. No one can take your place. My heavy heart will be so glad to one day see you again when I also get to see the face of Jesus. Please have a good laugh with my dad…Jesus will introduce you to him.

I so wish I could be there today and celebrate Vickie’s life with everyone. I wish I could give Marshelle a big hug and Zach and Salina. So many childhood/teen year memories are wrapped up in the Skinner household which always had Vickie there. Not only her laughter, stories listening heart, but a great example of a hard worker. I have thought of her often as I am cleaning and trying to get my kids to clean HA! Her clean home has always been an inspiration to me, that may sound weird but as a stay at home/homeschooling mom of 4 kids I know it’s not easy. I always felt at home. I love you all and an especially big hug for Harry!

One of my favorite memories with my grandma is when she would pick me up on Friday’s when I was a little kid. On the drive out to Tenino we would sign sillly songs like, “1, 2, buckle my shoe, 3, 4…” She would be slapping on the dash and yell, “7, 8, SHUT THAT GATE HARLEY!” Grandma would always make Grandpa sing-a-long too, telling him to get into to, and laughing when he would get annoyed.
Whenever it was shopping, a dinner or lunch date, church, vacation, a car ride, a doctors appointment, Grandma was always in a good mood, and had a positive attitude. Whenever I needed something I knew I could go to her, and she would listen. I will miss her smile, her sense of humor, silliness, her cooking, and her laugh. She was a wonderful Grandmother, and I am blessed that I was able to have such an amazing relationship with her.

I asked Vickie to bring a salad for dinner & she brought the most amazing salad ever. After dinner we learned that the salad cost $35 at Top Foods. We had a great laugh & I asked for salad every time after that. We had so much fun together. We will miss her terribly but I know she’ll have salad ready for me when I see her again.

At one time Vickie was my sister in law, I have good memories of her, she was very kind and opened her house to me when I had to take my son to uc Davis. Our kids were born 2weeks apart. They would play together when they were small. My heart breaks for her children, grand children and her husband . Love you kids , stay strong ! Aunt Janis

I am going to miss Vickie so much! Working together for 18 years, I will miss the laughter coming from the back. She was always willing to help with the “extras” when she had down time. Ready to share food, share recipes, try recipes… And always there to talk, whether about family issues, or deep faith discussions. I could count on her for candor & honesty. And I will see her again! I know that she is with our Lord, & I believe what the Bible says. This is temporary. But I will still miss Vickie until then!

Skinner family, oh what a glorious day that Vicki is now pain free and dancing on the streets of gold. I so appreciate the friendship of your family and the times we spent at Catherdral of Praise. May you continue to carry on her legacy and love. Vicki will be missed here on earth, once you are reunited with her again, that will be forever. I love you all and I am praying for you.

Vickie had an awesome ability to retain imformation, and repeat it, word for word. In her home, I remember a surprise baby shower on March 7, 1989. Sometimes, Vickie assisted with transportation and assignments with my children, (during the time of my childrens’ homeschooling). To me, her laugh was contagious. Vickie was a sweetheart, kind, loving and fun person. I’ll never forget Vickie Skinner!

My deepest condolences to family and friends whose lives you have touched. I will miss our phone conversations; your stories and most of all to hear you laugh. Just hearing me talk “Kentucky” style would get a good laugh from you. Through it all you kept the most important things close in your heart- faith, family, joy and love. You always had a smile on your face. You were strong and a true fighter until the end……..You will be deeply missed………..
