Obituary of Irene Mae Shultz

Irene, 98, a resident of Tenino for 92 years, passed away at Woodland Retirement Center in Lacey, Washington on Sunday March 9, 2014. She was born to Frank E. and Lula (Wood) Smith on January 30, 1916 in Butte, Montana. She grew up in Tenino and married Harold Shultz, who died in 1965. Irene had been a school bus driver for the Tenino School District a waitress for Tenino Jiffy Lunch Café and Bailey Drug in Tumwater. She enjoyed going to Reno, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Degree of Honor Association. Surviving are her children, Dennis (Sandy) of Yelm, George (Susan) Shultz of Lacey, Margo Wall and Janene MacCormac, both of Olympia; daughter-in-law, Bette Shultz; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous step grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parent; sisters, Maxine, Margaret, and Gertrude; son, Ron; and daughter, Patricia. Family suggests memorial donations be made to Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, 4800 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105.
