Obituary of Jean L. Schlottmann

A quiet, sweet, gentle and loving woman went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 21, 2013; three days before her 94th birthday. She was born Georgia “Jean” Loucks to Chester A. Loucks and Georgianna Tryphina Hall on November 24, 1919 in Olympia, Washington. Jean graduated valedictorian from Rainier High School in 1937 and attended Dietz Business College. She married Franz H. Schlottmann on July 29, 1949 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Olympia. Her loving husband passed away on April 8, 2006, after 56 happily married years. She was also preceded in death by her three older sisters, Dorothy Arthusa Watson, May Tryphina Trowbridge, and Sybil Gertrude Klingbeil Leach. Jean retired after 25 years as an accountant from the Washington State library. She was happiest in her garden and was renowned for her extraordinary floral arrangements. Jean also enjoyed boating on the family cruiser (Wombat), beach combing, and participating in antique car club tours with her family and many friends. Jean is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Rick) Wendt, and their children, Stacie and Christopher, who lovingly cared for her after moving to Tacoma in 2008. She is also survived by her son, Jay, of Olympia, and his three children, Josh, Alexis and Jesse. In addition, she is survived by sisters-in-law, Ruth Layton and Sibyl Wendler, both of Olympia; nephew, Sam Whitford of Ashland, Oregon; Catherine Watson of Corvalis, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Please leave memories of Jean or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
