Dear Phelps Family: Thank you so much for informing us of Clara’s passing. We wish to send our deepest sympathies and condolences, and know she will be sorely missed. I, Leigh, knew Jim’s brother, Raymond, and met Jim when he came to Utah to help his brother move to Montana. I had the great pleasure of meeting Jim, and learning about his lovely Clara through him. Clara was clearly a woman of great attributes and gifts, and I wish I had personally met her. What an amazing couple they were, and how fortunate for the Phelps family to have such incredible people in their family! God bless you, and God rest her soul. John and Leigh Prim, Sandy, Utah.

I was saddened yet felt a smile when I read of Clara’s passing. She was a joy to know and all of us at the pharmacy talked about her and Jim. what wonderful people! we were so lucky to have known them and we all enjoyed the visits when either of them would come in for prescriptions. Both have been reunited in Heaven and what a reunion. I send our heart felt sympathy to all of you and God Bless. Hertha and staff First Pharmacy, Billings Montana

Martha, I don’t even know if you remember me. So many of my parents’ friends are passing away (and my friends’ parents) that I check the Idaho State Journal every week or so. I was sad to see the news of your mother’s passing. I remember working on debate cards at your home many years ago and how fun and welcoming your mom was! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I knew Clara and Jim from exercise class at St. Vincent hospital in Billings and admired them both. We were present at Jim’s funeral and saw Clara continue to be vitally interested in all things. We always smiled with anticipation when we saw each other, knowing we would have a good conversation. Thank you for the beautiful Obit. She would be pleased with your report. Sincerely, Jo Smith

Both Jim and Clara were great influences in my high school years with MYF and the Masonic Youth Organizations. I was glad that later on I could call Jim brother and Clara sister. I could always count on them for good advice. Blessings on their families in this time of grief and we can now rejoice that Jim and Clara are both resting in the strong arms of God after traveling that road to that undiscovered country whose borne no traveler returns.

To the Phelps Family, I was sorry to read of Clara’s death. I knew her and Jim in Billings many years ago. They were treasures and you were certainly fortunate to have such fine relatives. I also knew Raymond from RimShadows in Billings. I hope your happy memories of times past help ease your sorrow.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Jim, Susan and all of Clara’s family. My mother-in-law Lois Richards so enjoyed living next to Clara at the Springs at Tanasbourne, getting to know her, and talking about Mom’s cousin in Billings that Clara knew so well. Clara was a wonderful and interesting person. God Bless all of you. The family of Rick and Tanya and Lois Richards

Martha and family, I share in your sorrow, but feel peace that she is no longer in physical pain. As I read the obituary there were so many things I didn’t know about your mom and dad. I always thought of her as loving, strong, determined, and patient (had to be with all of us hormonal girls running around in Jobs). I can’t forget the neurotic cat who used to pull her fur out . Your mom put up with the kitty, too. I was the house sitter in case you’re puzzled. I feel blessed that I was able to see her a couple years back. Didn’t Ray get to meet her, too? Her smile and happy disposition will long be remembered. Hugs and peace to you and your family. Your comment about closing the bible did make me chuckle. I can hear/see it now. Can’t think about Jobs without thinking of your mom. In sympathy, Kim (she always called me Kimmy)
