Obituary of Carl Westley Peterson

Carl lived in Shelton, Washington with his wife, Rosie Lillie (Christensen) Peterson. They were married on September 19, 1987, and enjoyed 25 years together. He passed away April 22, 2013 in Lacey, Washington, at the age of 83. He was born May 12, 1929 in Longview, Washington, to Ingberg and Laura (Pontias) Peterson. Carl is survived by his wife, Rosie; his children, Ray and Lisa Minish, Mike and Peggy Martin, Roxie and Steve Martinell, Cheryl and Chuck Parks, Diane Cox, and Bob Martin. He also had many grandkids and great grandkids he adored and loved as they adored and loved him. Carl also had friends in his life who he considered family, including Rita and Manual, and Faye and Ditty. Tribute to Dad: Dad loved life, especially his beautiful wife, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He left us with great memories and moments that we all shared together with him. Dad taught us the values of life and friendship. He showed us the meaning of a hard day’s work and the rewards of his labor and love. Dad rose above so many difficult challenges, both life passions and health. Dad’s mind was brilliant and always working. Sometimes he would wake in the middle of the night to write down his dreams and thoughts, and then in the morning make them into realities. He was the smartest person we knew; no matter the task, he always had a solution and a fix for the problem. Dad loved his long career being a machinist; his biggest passions in life were working with wood and building gadgets. Dad lived a wonderful life. He was a man always on the move who never stopped for anyone. He loved driving, whether it was motorcycles or race cars, as long as he was moving. Dad also loved his dear pets and even the wild deer that visited his yard. In Carl’s last days, he was able to tell all of us, “I love you,” and ease our minds. Now we know he is peaceful and with his loved ones and friends who passed before him. Be free husband, dad, granddad, and friend. Thanks for being a very special person in our lives. We love you!
