Obituary of Donald John Peacock

Donald, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Providence St. Peter Hospital. He was born October 6, 1932 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Vern and Vivian Peacock. Donald attended school and graduated from college in La Crosse, Wisconsin, receiving his Masters Degree in Education. He was a Korean War veteran. He married Velva M. Thompson on October 12, 1963 in Freeport, Illinois. They came to Washington and have resided here since 1972. Donald was a teacher for the Olympia School District for 37 years before retiring in 1984. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, and metal detecting. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Velva M Peacock; his brother, Lyle of Wisconsin; and six children, Jackie (Dean) Ferch of Washington, Karen (Bob) Louis of Maryland, Bob (Margaret) Broostrom of Washington, Deborah (Bob) Price, of Washington, Dan (Tammy) Peacock of Wisconsin, and Tom (Kim) Peacock of Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Vivian Peacock of Wisconsin; and his brother, Gene Peacock of Wisconsin. He will be loved and missed by all.
