Obituary of Adele Oram

Adele, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2014, in Olympia, Washington, with family by her side. She was born January 23, 1931 to James and Lily Sowerby in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada. Adele attended school in Vancouver, Powell River and on Vancouver Island. She married William Oram on November 16, 1951 in Vancouver, BC. She was a word processing supervisor for Washington State Dept. of Social and Health Services, from which she retired after 20 years of service. Adele was a positive, encouraging, caring, and helpful woman who loved her family and all their interests. She was the ultimate listener. She loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed walks, nature, wildlife, quiet time alone with a good book, and music. She also loved to travel, garden, and was an incredible seamstress and avid non-fiction reader. She is survived by her husband, Bill Oram; son, Ralph Oram; daughters, Gayle Aronson and Teresa “Teri” Winkler; grandchildren, Jason, Matt, Aaron, Miles and Cody; and great grandchildren, Yuna and Alex. She was predeceased by her parents; and grandparents, Elizabeth Furness Alexander and Cora Dickie Sowerby. Please leave memories of Adele or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
