Obituary of Rob Ogle

Rob Ogle, born March 22, 1964 in Olympia, Washington, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at his home in Lacey, Washington. Rob graduated from Olympia High School and earned a BA degree in Sociology from Central Washington University in 1987, and worked for the State from 1988 to 2007 in a variety of positions and agencies, including L&I. He retired due to health issues in 2007. Rob would often share how much he enjoyed working at L&I, and particularly the friendships he made with his many co-workers. Rob valued his independence more than anything, and took great pride in his job and the opportunities he was given. Despite the many challenges he faced, Rob led a productive and accomplished life. He was selected as one of 58 “Community Heroes” chosen to carry the Olympic Torch through the community as part of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. He also participated in a number of marathons as a wheelchair athlete, including Boston, LA, Seattle, Portland and The Capital City. He was loved and respected by his family and many friends, and will be greatly missed. Rob is survived by his son, Tyler Ogle; his parents, Richard and Ila Ogle; and his brother, Mark Ogle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Please leave memories of Rob or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
