Obituary of George Stacy Nelson

Born March 24, 1936 to Lester and Verdie Nelson in Sacramento, California, George passed away after a long-term illness on August 12, 2014 in Olympia, Washington. He was 78. He married Linda Miller in California on December 21, 1964. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Panama. He lived in Grants Pass, Oregon for 50 years, Sunray, Texas for 20 years, and the last seven years in Olympia. George was a jokester and story teller. He loved wood working, drawing, singing karaoke, gardening, thrift store shopping, and spending time with family and friends. George is survived by his sons, Richard Links of Merlin, Oregon, and Stacy Nelson of Sunray, Texas; daughters, Corenna Atwood of Scappoose, Oregon, and Robbie Nelson of McMinnville, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Frank Nelson of Sunray, Texas; and sisters, Ruth Davis of Glendale, Oregon, Margaret Shook of Centralia, Washington, Phillis Magnusson of Olympia, Washington, Mary Scott of Grants Pass, Oregon, Esther Stark of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Julia Millner of Klamath Falls, Oregon. He was predeceased by brothers, LeRoy Nelson of Nevada, and Ronald L. Nelson of Grants Pass. Memorial donations may be made to Providence SoundHome Care and Hospice.
