Michael McGuire

Obituary of Michael McGuire

Michael passed away September 11, 2014 of a heart attack at St.PeterHospital in Olympia, Washington at the age of 61. He was born June 18, 1953 in Woodstock, Illinois, the fourth child of Cecil “Mac” and Betty (Hayes) McGuire. Michael graduated from OxnardHigh School (Oxnard, California) and SouthPuget SoundCommunity College (Olympia). He married Leslie on September 1, 1992 in Tenino, Washington. Michael was the Preventive Maintenance Manager at Santa Barbara Research for several years before relocating to Washington. He was an IT technician by profession and also served in other recent positions with local companies. Michael was an avid writer, singer, accomplished guitar player and award winning poet. By many accounts, he was a self-educated man who was well versed in history, science, psychology and the religions of the world. Michael served as a certified counselor and biofeedback therapist for many years, helping guide people to wellness. Michael could always make people laugh and knew how to raise your energy through his provocative words and playful approach to most everything. He was young at heart and yet wise to the troubles of the human plight. He had a questing mind with a ferocious inquisitiveness and a power of observation, par none. He could heal with his touch, his words and his love, but you would never get the upper hand in playful competition – ever! He is survived by his cherished son, Cayce McGuire; ex-wife, Leslie McGuire; beloved brother, Terry McGuire of Nevada; beloved sisters, Cindy (Spirit Wolf) of Iowa, Barbara McGuire of Vancouver, and Carol Wright of Salem; very special nieces and nephews; close family friends, Kim Archer and Kenny; and special friend-brothers, Matt Survis of Lacey and Monty Jantzen of Santa Barbara, California. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers-in-law. Michael’s ashes will be laid to rest at Silverstrand Beach in Oxnard, California. Safe journeys…..
