Cindi McCann

Obituary of Cindi Louise McCann

Cindi (Cinda) Louise McCann passed away August 27, 2014 from complications associated with surgery due to her battle with cancer. She was born October 18, 1949 in Shelton, Washington, to Vernon and Ardella (Irwin) McCann. She was the middle sister of the three McCann girls. She graduated from Tumwater High School in 1967. Cindi married and later divorced John Miller, yet celebrated the birth of their daughter Dede. Cindi loved her two grandchildren, Kenzie and James, who affectionately referred to her as “Mana.” Cindi proudly displayed many pictures of the both of them throughout her home. When Kenzie was a little girl, Cindi would always ask when she was going to get her “Kenzie Fix,” and she also expressed how much she was going to miss James when he went off to college this fall since he frequently visited her. Cindi loved to cook and bake. She was always making something for the family to take home, and was sure to ask for a report back on whether it was liked or not. Deserts seemed to be her specialty, for which we all developed a sweet tooth. Cindi had an amazingly talented ability for crocheting and cross stitching. She could produce fantastic tablecloths or turn ordinary Christmas bulbs into a work of art with her crochet work. Cindi would spend months turning photographs of her grandchildren into impeccable cross stitched masterpieces that were proudly displayed in her daughter’s home. Cindi was a voracious reader and passed her passion for books along to her daughter with whom she shared many novels. Over the past couple of years, Cindi developed a close relationship with her friend, Debbie Miller, as they spent countless hours together. The family can’t thank Debbie enough for all the errand running, grocery shopping and driving to doctor’s appointments she did with Cindi. Cindi worked for the State of Washington, as well as holding various administrative jobs over the years. Cindi was preceded in death by her mother, Ardella (Irwin) McCann; and her two sisters, Linda (McCann) Yarber and Starr (McCann) Wall. She is survived by her father, Vernon McCann; daughter and son-in-law, Dede (McCann/Miller) and Phil Jasperson; grandchildren, Kenzie (Jasperson) Klumker and her husband Jacob and James Jasperson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
