Obituary of Valerie R. Mason

Valerie, 61, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on August 4, 2013 in Chehalis, Washington. She was born July 17, 1952 to Philip and Rosalyn Mason in Butte, Montana. She graduated in 1970 from Centralia High School, earned an AA from Centralia Community College, and a BA from Evergreen State College. Valerie worked for many social and health agencies, ending her career in Chehalis at the Area Agency on Aging as an Information and Assistance Specialist, where she helped many people. Valerie enjoyed painting, playing guitar, singing, traveling and camping. She had an enormous heart. She loved her family, she loved her friends, she just loved people. Val was never without her phone and spent a great deal of time organizing and planning fun things to do with those she loved. She absolutely lived her life to the fullest. She will be forever missed. Valerie is survived by her son, Christopher G. Mason; grandchildren, Jacy and Arabella Mason; mother, Rosalyn Mason; brothers, Philip Mason Jr., Jim Mason, and Jerry Mason; and sisters, Debbie Gress, Kathy Mitchell, and Sharon Bovey. She was predeceased by her father, Philip Mason; grandparents, Philip Edward and May Mason, Earl Sullivan, and Edna Pinske. A potluck memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Fords Prairie Grange, 2640 W. Reynolds Avenue, Centralia, WA 98531. Donations may be made to the Area Agency on Aging Chehalis Washington Special Assistance Holiday Fund Program (Christmas List).
