Obituary of Robert P. Lynch

Bob, 87, passed away February 16, 2014 in Olympia, Washington. He was born October 24, 1926 to Edward and Mary Lynch. He graduated from O’Dea High School in Seattle, Washington, and attended Seattle University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Bob married Lila in Post Falls, Idaho, on September 14, 1963. Professionally, he was a facilities planner at Boeing from the 1960s to 1972, and the State of Washington from 1973 to 1992. Bob loved sports, in particular baseball and football. He was a lifelong Husky Football fan and was a season ticket holder for more than 50 years. He also loved being by the water and fishing. He purchased a cabin at Hermosa Beach on the Tulalip Reservation, which allowed him to go fishing and crabbing every day. It is where he eventually met his wife Lila. In addition, Bob loved traveling, especially anywhere near the water or the ocean. This love of water made cruising especially attractive to Bob and Lila and they enjoyed many over their retirement years, including multiple trips to Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, and even through Russia. Bob and Lila were so enamored with their cruise to Mexico that they returned for vacations annually, eventually purchasing enough time shares to spend a month a year in the sunny resort town of Mazatlan. There Bob was able to combine his love of water, sunny places and his love of fishing. Each year they would take suitcases full of clothing for the people at the timeshare and throw a party for the employees to show their gratitude for their hospitality. Later in life, he enjoyed spending his time watching his family’s dogs show at local dog shows. He combined his love for sporting events with dog shows by purchasing a catalog for each show and keeping track of how his dogs did versus the other dogs in the class. Bob even traveled with his dog to multiple Doberman Club National events, and once to the AKC National Championship Dog Show to watch his dog compete. Bob is survived by his wife, Lila Lynch; daughters, Sue Lynch and Tess Starr; son-in-law, Richard Starr; and sister, Mary Bruders. He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Jack and Jim Lynch. Memorial donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Please leave memories of Bob or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
