Richard Jolley

Obituary of Richard Denton Jolley

Richard Denton Jolley, 74, of Rainier, Washington, died peacefully at his home on May 6, 2014. Dick was born on May 23, 1939 to Robert and Margaret (Denton) Jolley in Port Gamble, Washington. They moved to Yelm, Washington, soon after Richard was born. Dick attended Yelm Schools and after graduation enlisted in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Key West, Florida, and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. He was honorably discharged. After his stint with the military, he returned to Yelm and married Beverly (Johnson) 49 years ago. They lived in Yelm until moving to Rainier in 2005. Dick worked as a truck driver for several transportation companies. After his retirement in 1998, he cared for his mother until her death in 2010. In his early years, Dick was an avid bowler, golfer and sometimes even horseback rider. He was always there to help when a family member or friend was in need to have a garden plowed, fence repaired, or advice on managing finances. For those that knew him well, we will forever miss his warmth and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his son, Robert; granddaughter, Witney (Derek) Estus; great grandchildren, Madison and Ryker; a sister, Joanne George; nephews, David (Nicole) Korn and Brian (Autumn) Korn; great nieces, Michaela and Denton; and great nephews, Harrison and Jaxon, of Grass Valley, California.
