I don’t know if anyone is still checking this site, but I have very fond memories of Minerva. She was my young women’s leader in Eatontown, NJ. I also babysat all 4, then 5, then 6 kids from 1979-1985. She was a wonderful role model and helped me tremendously to see how a happy family functions. I came from a part-member family who had some issues but she was always there to encourage me and to be a great example. She also had a great gift for “telling it like it is.” I loved her for her straightforwardness. She taught me to hula for when we put on luaus for YW camp fundraisers and taught me a love of the outdoors when she was our camp leader. The reason I’m writing this is because I was going over some things I’m grateful for, and her influence on me came to mind. After doing an internet search, I came across her death notice. I’m so sorry for your loss, but I’m sure you know her legacy lives on, in your family, and in the many people she met throughout her life.

Minerva was always a good friend. Her happy and uplifting spirit added to the joy of friendship. Our time at college and dancing at the PCC was truly a treasured time. I miss her and am happy that she is blessed with a loving family that will continue to remember her kindness and aloha. I will miss her dearly.

My girls had the pleasure of learning hula from Auntie. I looked forward to the music and singing at the weekly classes, my favorite weekly activity. As a mom, Minerva taught me to help my children, find the energy to do more with my children, sew with my children, and help them succeed. I adored Minerva and will miss her positive energy. To her family, thank you for the beautiful ceremony yesterday. And to her children, yes she talked about you. She told me how busy she was in New Jersey raising 6 kids and trying to work, but that she got the ultimate reward: children that she was incredibly proud of.
