Obituary of Alma Hoffman

Alma Hoffman, born March 25, 1926 to Arthur and Elizabeth Turner in Manchester, England, passed away August 30, 2014 in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 88. A 50-year resident of Olympia, she also lived in other Washington cities, including Pullman, Wenatchee, Seattle, Chehalis and Bellingham. Alma served in the Women’s Royal Air Force in England during WWII. After the war, she married her husband of 67 years, Wallace “Wally” Hoffman, on July 19, 1946. For several years, Alma worked at the Chronicle in Centralia. She had several other jobs over the years, but being a homemaker was her favorite. Her priority was always “family first.” She loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo, reading, gardening and going to Reno. Alma is survived by her daughters, Diane (Ken) Martin of Rainier, Washington, and Deborah (Larry) Culwell of Olympia; five grandchildren, Robert (Cheryl) Horton, Olivia Strout, Dennis (Ruth) Horton, Megan (Jamey) Whitney, and David Strout; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death seven months ago (1/11/2014) by her husband, Wally. Donations in Alma’s honor may be made to a charity of your choice.
