Obituary of Gertrude Sylvia Henderson

Gertrude, 88, was born May 2, 1925 to her parents, John and Ollie Hayden in Fruita, Colorado. She passed away on December 14, 2013 of Alzheimer’s. Gertrude was married to Norman Wayne Koontz in 1944 in Fruita. She later married Ralph P. Henderson, Jr. in 1947 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She lived in Grand Junction for 25 years, Denver, Colorado for 13 years, Casper, Wyoming for 7 years, Dallas, Texas for 14 years, Whittier, Brea for 25 years and Sun City, California before moving to Olympia 9 years ago. She had worked as a bookkeeper, and kept busy with her family, Eastern Star, Travel Club and Odd Fellows Lodge. Her family will remember her as a devoted mother and wife. Surviving are her son, Ralph (Skeeter) Wesley Henderson; daughter, Tanya Koontz Henderson Biehler; 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ollie Hayden; brother, Wesley; and sister, Veda. Private inurnment will be held sometime later this year in the National Cemetery in California.
