Ronald M. Hammell January 21, 1933 – March 29, 2013 Longtime Hoquiam resident, Ron Hammell, passed away on March 29, 2013 in Olympia, Washington. Ron was born in Aberdeen, Washington to Milton and Mabel Hammell on January 21, 1933. He was in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954, stationed in Amarillo, Texas. Ron married Jean Joan Blevins on April 1, 1958 in Goldendale, Washington. He was employed by Lamb Grays Harbor in Hoquiam, and then worked for IBM as a service technician, retiring in 1990. He is survived by his spouse of 55 years, Jean Hammell; their four children, Susan Plummer (Kyle) of Longbranch, Washington, Ronald A. Hammell (Yutta) of Olympia, Mark Hammell (Cindy) of Olympia, and Gina Maynard (Brian) of Spokane, Washington; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon Hammell of Hoquiam; sisters, Jeanetta Reeder of Aberdeen, Kay Ruzicka of Mt. Vernon, and Dorothy Stroud of Aberdeen. Ron was an avid wood craftsman who made bird houses, cradles, potty training chairs and decorative shelves for his family. Ron enjoyed boating, water-skiing, fishing and camping. He and his father would have intense Domino competitions after Jean would prepare them a delicious dinner. Ron would wake up his children with a “dooo leee do de” (knee squeeze). Nieces Barb Phillips and Bev Fagerstedt would always put a smile on Ron’s face. Ron’s beloved Yorkshire terrier, Sadie Belle, laid with and comforted him until he passed away. Ron’s family would like to extend an open invitation to all family and friends to a Celebration of Life at the Grays Harbor Country Club in Aberdeen on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for refreshments and to socialize and reminisce.
