Obituary of Velma Fitzsimmons

Velma “Babe” Fitzsimmons, 74, died peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Lacey, Washington. Born Velma Sias on April 1, 1939, she spent her early years in Yelm, Washington, and lived her entire adult life in the Olympia area. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Lenard Fitzsimmons; her children, Maggie Sokolik (Jim Duber), Kathy Sokolik (Roger Deatherage), and Chuck Sokolik (Teresa Lee Sokolik); her stepchildren, Keith Fitzsimmons, Kalyn Hartley (Eric Hartley), and Shelly Rosado; and six beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Sokolik, Melissa Baker, Kimberly Fitzsimmons, Cody Fitzsimmons, Becky Mitchell and Amy Mitchell. She is also survived by her sisters, Della Mae Allan (Ron Allan) and Georgia Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Babe was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Sias and Charley Sias; and sister, Darleen Simpson. No services are scheduled per her request; however, a celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Lacey VFW Hall.
