Obituary of Wayne P. Engel

Wayne P. Engel, age 79, passed away of natural causes on April 29, 2014, at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, Washington. He was born June 10, 1935, to Peter and Clara (Eichacker) Engel in Salem, South Dakota. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 at Fort Carson, Colorado. He married Peggy Weidert on August 14, 1959. Wayne worked 38 years for the State of Washington. He retired as a computer programmer from the Office of Financial Management in 1997. He enjoyed camping, cruising to Alaska, fishing and hearing about his granddaughter’s travels around the world. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Engel of Olympia; daughter, Teresa (Kirk) Deming of Olympia; grandkids, Megan Deming of Olympia, Vann (Mandy) Deming of Prosser, and Cole (Rachel) Deming of Olympia; great grandkids, Gabe and Logan Kirkley of Prosser, and Crew Deming of Olympia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, David Engel; his brothers, William, Robert and James Engel; and his sisters, Eileen Marros and Ardis Weisdepp. Memorial donations may be given to the South Sound Senior Services, Meals on Wheels, or your favorite charity.
