Obituary of Michael Patrick Dorian

Michael Patrick Dorian, a lifelong resident of Thurston County, passed away November 6, 2014, at his home. Mr. Dorian was born January 6, 1942, at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, the second child of Thomas and Marguerite Dorian. He attended St. Michael’s School, St. Martin’s High School and graduated from North Thurston High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the mid-1960s. He was employed as a draftsman and surveyor by the Thurston County Engineering Department and later became a real estate broker and owner of Walker Realty in Olympia. Mr. Dorian was known as a “Jack-of-All-Trades” who worked in automotive and homebuilding over many years. His children fondly recall his passion as he worked and assisted others with all forms of construction, automotive, electrical and plumbing work. Mr. Dorian was known by many for his willingness to assist anyone who called upon him. Over the years, he also welcomed into his home and embraced family and friends who needed help. He is survived by his former wife, Angie Dorian; and their children, Cheri Dorian Wright, Kevin Dorian, Michele Dorian Payne (Greg), and Jeffrey Dorian (Becky), all of the Olympia area; and his grandchildren, Katy Payne, Sammi Payne, Austin Wright, Alexander Rodriguez and Isabella Rodriguez. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Garry, Thomas Jr., John, Teresa, Joan and Patty. He was preceded in death by his brother, James, and his parents.
