Obituary of Robert Carlton Dixon

Robert Carlton “Bob” Dixon Bob passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in Seattle, Washington. He was born January 14, 1947 in Renton, Washington to Dr. and Mrs. Floyd K. Dixon, who preceded him in death. Bob is survived by his beloved daughter Emily, his former wife Susan Dixon, and his sister Helen Jackson, all of Olympia Washington, and his sister Liz Austin of Bellevue Washington. He is also survived by his nephew Michael Austin and nieces Lauren Austin, Barb Roloff, and Diane Henderson. Bob was an extremely loving and devoted father to Emily, age 22. She was a constant source of joy for him and the light of his life. Everyone who knew Bob knew how much he adored his daughter. He was also dedicated to his work. He loved language and literature. He graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Masters in Linguistics (1971-1973). He had a long career with the Association for Direct Instruction in Eugene, Oregon, and was the primary author of Spelling Mastery, Morphograpic Spelling, and Reading Success. He was a scholar, and was well known and respected for his intellect. Bob was also a gifted singer and musician. He sang and played the guitar with his high school best friends John and Cyndee Rebuck for over 48 years. He connected easily with people and those who knew him enjoyed his great wit. He had a gentle soul and a generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who love him. Please leave memories of Bob and condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
