Obituary of Fern Catherine Dempsey

Fern Catherine Dempsey, 88, passed away March 24, 2013 in McCleary, Washington. She was born May 27, 1924 to Thomas William and Jessie Mary (Crandall) Dempsey in Lewiston, Montana. She attended school in Omak, Washington, and, at various times, lived in Okanogan, Washington, Reno, Nevada, Tacoma, Washington, and in California. Fern married Mikel James Mullin in 1942 (divorced in 1948), and married Glenn Lamar Rutherford in 1949 (divorced in 1960). She worked as a waitress in a number of restaurants, and enjoyed knitting, dancing, and reading, and loved to sing. She is survived by sons James Mullin and wife Janice of McCleary, Larry Mullin of Florida, and Ricky Rutherford of Arkansas; daughter, Conny Fore of Milwaukie, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, John Kenneth Dempsey of Okanogan; and sister, Helen Bourget of Shingleton, California.
