Obituary of Melburne Emil Christenson

Mel, age 89, passed away February 5, 2014 in Olympia, Washington. He was born November 26, 1924 to JB and Minnie (Kattke) Christenson in Manchester, South Dakota. Mel enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 9, 1942 and served as a radioman in the Asia Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 23, 1946. Mel married Verna Irene Skaggs on August 24, 1946. They enjoyed 64 years together before her passing on February 16, 2011. A 75-year resident of Olympia, Mel worked as a cellarman at Olympia Brewing Company. He is survived by grandson, Grant Goldsby, and great-granddaughter, Delaney Goldsby.
