Obituary of Rita A. Canova

Rita A. Canova, 79, passed away May 29, 2015 in Olympia, Washington, her home for the last 40 years. She was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Monessen High School in 1953 and earned a BS degree in 1958 from Carlow College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Professionally, she was a science teacher in Pittsburgh (1959-1965) and Monessen, Pennsylvania (1966-1973), and an engineering technician for U.S. West (Century Link) from 1975 to retirement in 1996. Rita was a voracious reader with an unending quest for learning. After retirement, she traveled throughout Europe and to Egypt and the Holy Land. She also was a member of St. Michael’s Guild in Olympia. Rita was a loving and caring friend to all in need, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her, especially her family in whose hearts she will remain forever. She is survived by her sister; five nephews; a niece; four grandnephews; two grandnieces; and two great grandnieces. A mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Olympia.
