I first met Sandy when I joined the American Sewing Guild. She was a great teacher, always there when needed. I’m a much richer person for having had Sandy in my life. I will miss her deeply.

I am very saddened by Sandy’s death. She was such a dynamo, so willing to share her sewing knowledge, and so dedicated to the American Sewing Guild. She will be sorely missed, both personally and by all the organizations in which she was so actively involved. Please accept my sincere sympathy.

Sandy was an inspiration to me. She taught my first sewing class. Her patience, great sense of humor and extraordinary skills made it easy for me to learn. She prepared me well. I love to sew now and I credit Sandy for that. I will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

We have been friends and neighbors of Sandy’s since we moved to Olympia. She and Sam are great neighbors and always willing to do what they could to keep our neighborhood a ‘family.’ Sandy was also ready to help me with any sewing questions I had–that girl could sew anything! We are sad at her passing, and will miss her very much.

I met Sandy shortly after joining the Olympia Chapter of the American Sewing Guild. She approached me at the Annual meeting, asked me to sit with her and we talked about the importance of taking a leadership role. Sandy has been my mentor and was always available to offer advise and counsel. I look forward to working with ASG National as we pursue an avenue to honor Sandy’s contributions to the organization and its members.

Gosh, I’ll miss Sandy. Sandy and I were in the “Sew and Sews” neighborhood group for the South Sound Chapter of the American Sewing Guild. Sandy started our group. She was an amazing stitcher, and an even more amazing sewing teacher. She knew the slickest techniques for everything and was incredibly generous in sharing her knowledge. Nobody, but nobody, could do a more accurate bound buttonhole.
We often disagreed about things like interfacing and thread, but we had a great time drafting pants patterns and having deep conversations about turn of the cloth and knits that kept “growing”. I’ll never forget Sandy’s cackling laugh that often rang through the room. She left us too soon.
Love and hugs to Sam.

I will always hold Sandy fondly in my heart. I first met her when I joined the Olympia chapter of ASG (American Sewing Guild). Shortly thereafter I had my first child and I’ll never forget the baby shower she organized for me and my newborn boy. Sandy gave me a lot of advice on how to continue sewing while keeping my baby happy and also inspired my sewing ventures. I often think of her whenever I begin a major garment sewing project. I have also sought her advice when I planned on teaching a new sewing skill. She will be greatly missed.
