Obituary of Barbara Jean Buechel

Barbara Jean Buechel, 79, passed away at her Olympia home on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. She was born to Dan and Mary Sandstrom in Escanaba, Michigan. Her family moved to Centralia in 1947. She attended school there and graduated from Centralia High School. Barbara married Thomas A. Buechel on July 11, 1955 in St Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia. The family’s last move was to Olympia, where they have lived for 36 years. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting and gardening. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Tom; son, Gregory of Olympia; daughters, Susan Lochner of Eagle River, Alaska and Teresa Bullinger of Olympia; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Shirley Hull. The family suggests memorial donations to Emergency Outreach in care of Sacred Heart.
