Thomas Brown

Obituary of Thomas Michael Brown

Thomas Michael Brown passed away on July 7, 2013 from cancer. Born November 19, 1950 in Olympia, he was the middle child of three siblings. At the time of his death, he had worked as a mail room clerk for the Department of Licensing on Washington Street for 24 years. Known at work as the Mail Stop Guru, he was well liked amongst his fellow workers and management. He took pride and enjoyment in his job, often volunteering to help others when the need arose. Tom was quick to offer suggestions for changes during staff meetings. Many of his ideas were utilized in the work area. Tom was an avid sports fan of football and baseball, television and music. He believed in having the best picture and sound to watch TV or listen to music after a hard day at work. He made many retailers happy over a period of years and had a massive collection of CDs. He had two families, his actual family and his work “family.” He was always proud of his work family and treasured his friends at work. He was extremely thankful for the lawn mowing, hospital visits, cards, and videos. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Fannie Brown of Olympia, and his sister, Mary Danforth of Olympia. Survivors are his sister, Joy Rosado of Olympia; nephew, Brian Danforth of Seattle; niece, Jayna Danforth of Renton; and two great nieces, Sydney Walling and Avery Walling of Renton.
